Poop-a-pa-looza 2011 (Yes, this is a poop post...Consider yourself warned!!!)

The liony onset of March continues to tighten it's grip on our house.  We noticed that Ben & Sam started to have some serious changes in their poop.  We thought it might be because we've started switching them over to formula since I'll be weaning off the pumping around their 6 month mark.

Jackpot...Sammy wins!!!
We also noticed that our laid back, calm Sammy was more irritable and having trouble sleeping at night.  We thought he had a cold so we put a humidifier in his room and started saline drops to clear up his nose.

Then we had an appointment with the OT for their CranioSacral Therapy.  It was our 1st appt.  She's giving me the introduction speech and Nate & Sam are snoozing on and off in their carseats on the floor (the floor of her home office).  I look over and I see POOP DRIPPING FROM SAMMY'S CARSEAT!!!  I have witnesses if you don't believe me.  I run over and flip off his blanket expecting to see a giant puddle of poop soup, but there was none.
Huh???
How does poop drip without a puddle?
Here's how:  He was wearing pants with leg snaps.  He managed to shoot his poop through one of the holes between the snaps.  The poop then dripped right into the hole where the car seat buckle comes up from the bottom of the unit. Viola...poop drip a la Sammy.  Luckily the mess wasn't huge, but it still took awhile to clean up.

My mom was home with Ben and when we returned she told us that he had some crazy poop attacks while we were gone.  I made the executive decision (I can do that...I have the authority) to run to Target to get Soy formula & Pedialyte.  (backtrack...Sammy had a completely dry diaper for 2 hours...I was worried about dehydration).  I made it back in time for the 2 o'clock feed and gave Ben & Sam the Soy formula & a ton of Pedialyte.  Nate seems to be in the clear since I think he had this last week (again, we weren't worried about the poop b/c we blamed it on the formula).

I wanted to call the doctor to see if my course of treatment was correct.  We have an appointment today for the boys' Synagis shots so I didn't really want to go in 2 days in a row.  Before I called the dr, I knew I had to take a temp.  I chose to do Sammy.  (I know you're asking, why I chose him...).  Well at this age, we have to do the ol' temp in the bum trick.  I get the probe cover, the vaseline, and get the thermometer in place.  I hear a gurgle.  The thermometer is only up to 97 so I figure we're getting close to it beeping.  Then I got a poop shower.  That ruined a diaper, his clothes, and the changing table cover.  I didn't get a full reading so I tried again (glutton for punishment?).  He let loose (get it???) again.  This time, I kept the thermometer in and got a full reading 98.3...no fever...YAY!  I can't even describe the mess all over the place, but at least I got the temp.

Then I called the doctor.  It's weird that I did all that without calling, but I guess my Mommy Instincts prevailed.  They told me I did everything right.  Yay for me!  Ben hasn't pooped since last night and Sam has, but not ruined any clothing so he managed to keep it in his diaper.  Yay for them!  Nate on the other hand hasn't pooped in a couple of days so we may have the opposite problem looming with him.  Oy Vey!!!
