Still Here!!!

It's our 2nd day in the antepartum unit. It's been much more relaxed today. The boys just had a BPP. I was bit anxious after A's performance yesterday. The good news is they all got 8/8 today so I don't need an NST!!!
Also, I forgot to mention yesterday that my belly is labeled. It actually says A, B, & C with marker on my belly so it makes it easier for the nurses to find them when we do heartbeat checks.
I think someday I'll post pix of the bathroom. It's quite hysterical how small it is and how little space there is for me to store things. Oh, another thing I forgot to mention is my room is a double so I have the option of getting a roommate. So much fun. All the rooms are doubles so I guess I have no choice. Let's just hope that nobody else needs to join me b/c there's really no storage space (especially in the bathroom). I don't think I'd be able to handle having a roomie, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it...

Antepartum Update

So after 72 hours in L&D, I was moved down to antepartum at 2am. It's been quite a change. I can take showers, wear my own clothes, pee all by myself, and I'm not hooked up to 3 IV's, a BP cuff and O2 thing. It's much quieter and I get to sleep more.

The boys are hanging in there too. They had their first biophysical profile today. B&C (the twins) passed with 8/8. A (the water breaker) got a 4/8. He lost points for lack of fluid (obviously), lack of movement, and lack of breathing. Because of this, they did a Non-stress test on him right away. He was fine. He was just being camera shy. We'll have another u/s tomorrow to keep updated on his status.

The scoop is I'm here until I deliver. Because A broke his bag of fluid, I run the risk of infection. We have to be monitored constantly and I need lots of antibiotics. It's kind of a pain, but I know it's important. We're hoping to keep these boys cooking for 4-5 more weeks. They won't let me go past 34 weeks at this point. Every day continues to count so we are grateful for each day that we are given.

All prayers and well wishes are greatly appreciated and urgently needed. Thank you for everybody's help with all of this craziness. We definitely wouldn't be able to do it without you.

L&D Update

Well, I guess my 29 week post was a bit too positive. Last night I felt a few trickles and wasn't sure if it was urine or fluid...so I called the hospital. They said I should stop by for a visit. While running around packing my stuff & Eli's stuff and getting a sitter for Eli, I continued to feel some leakage. So we sent Eli off to Matt & Amy's.
We hauled tail down to Boston, which didn't take long thankfully. We checked into triage and they confirmed it was indeed fluid. I started panicking and crying and hyperventilating. From there, I was admitted and I've been here ever since and will continue to be here until the little guys arrive.
I'm on Magnesium, antibioticsm and saline. I've had one dose of my steroids. I was contracting a bit, but the mag stopped it. The biggest issue is the lack of sleep. After 72 hours in L&D (where I currently am) if everybody behaves, I get to move to antepartum.
Well it's tough typing with this silly thing on my finger and my supper's arrived...yum-o!!!

The Countdown is On

Dave's first time signing on. Soo... baby A's water broke this evening. We're at MGH. Will post a's often a's I can. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

29 Weeks...YeeeeeHaaaaawww!!!

Another week down! I can't believe how quickly it's going. I don't feel anywhere close to ready. We're making progress, but unfortunately not as quickly as I would like. I just want to do the "I Dream of Jeannie" blink and have everything done. That would be lovely.

Symptoms this week continue to revolve around my hips and sleeping. It is soooooooo uncomfortable. I've tried every pillow configuration possible, but it just isn't working. I can make it until about 4 AM and then I'm in too much pain to sleep anymore. I then prop all the pillows up to make a recliner-like position and stay there praying for a few more z's. Naps are important now to make up for another 2 hours of sleep, but even short naps are painful too.

Another symptom that has developed (some may say worsened) this week is that my brain is complete mush. Here are 3 examples from this week: I forgot my purse at somebody's house, I left the freezer door open (when I need an ice cream sandwich--get out of the way!), and I forgot to toast my English Muffin...Don't ask!!!
The boys are constantly moving around. Baby A is easy to feel b/c he's the lowest and not tangled up with his brothers as much. The Twinkies however are constantly involved in a WWE match and I can't tell who's who. You can actually see my belly moving around. It's pretty nuts!

I'm going back to school next week...I know crazy, huh? I'm going to take it easy. I'll only be there 1/2 days and I have my wheelchair. My sub is hired so I just want to help her transition in and help with a little paperwork. It will be all very low impact (i.e. I can do it from my chair). My next appt is the day after Labor Day so we'll see what the doc says at that point.

One thing I forgot to mention from my appointment is that my dr said he'd let me go as far as 37 weeks. Holy Cow (yes, I ment the double meaning)!!! I want these babies to cook as long as possible and be as big and healthy as possible so the longer I go, the better it will be for them. I know the pain and suffering for me is only going to get worse, but I've heard it's all worth it in end. For every day I keep them cooking, is about 2 fewer days they're in the hospital. I've read stories and seen babies 1st hand that have had long NICU stays so I'm hoping to avoid a lengthy stay for these guys.

Keep up the prayers! The boys and I feel your positive vibes!!!

28 Week Appointment

So today was another early one. Yikes! 1st we had a growth scan, fluid check, and cervix check. We had a different tech today and she was very chatty and excited to be scanning triplets. It looks like Baby A is our chunker, which is o.k. because he's on his own so he's not stealing from his brothers. He's weighing in at 2 lbs 14 oz which is in the 55th percentile for singletons! Yay! Bring it on! Babies B & C are about even (YAY!) and their fluid looks good. B is still 1 oz bigger, but no big worries. He is 2 lbs 6 oz and C is 2 lbs 5 oz. They're in the low 30's percentile wise. I feel like I'm at school and I need the bell curve to explain to parents what that means! Ha!
Next we did weight/BP and chatted with the doc. Weight didn't change. I don't know how, but it didn't. BP was 118/62. And my belly around is 50.5" (I measure that myself...it's not "official"). Oh, yeah and my cervix is "a mile long" according to my dr. (it's still 4+ cm).
My dr is super excited about my progress and is in awe of my stats. He's happy about the boys' sizes, about my cervix and my blood pressure. We got some paperwork today and had to talk about anesthesia (we have a consult next time). I've never had a c-section so I'm a little freaked and my epidural was nuts last time so I definitely want to talk to the anesthesia people.
I got another week off for good behavior, but after that, I'm in every week at least 1x/week. Next week is Eli's 1st day at Ste. Jeanne D'arc so I'm glad I got the day off.
I did take a belly pic this week, but I'm too tired to upload/post right now. I'll add it in later.
Thanks for all the prayers and crossed fingers...it looks like it's working. The next step is getting all the baby gear organized and the room ready. It's easier said than done as I'm not super mobile and lifting big boxes isn't really my thing right now. Any volunteers to come help???
OOOOOOH, van pix later too! We pick it up at 5!!!

Pix are Up!!!

Here I am propped up like the Princess & the Pea

28 Weeks...can you believe it???

We've made it to another huge milestone!!! I can't believe it. It's been a crazy week around here...Let's see...
I guess the biggest, craziest event of the week is that I sold my car! Another milestone! We put it up on Craig's List on Sunday (PS, I think I'm addicted to Craig's List). We got a bunch of lulubirds asking us all kinds of things, like to drive it an hour away so they can test drive it. On Tuesday, a very normal person emailed me. Dave called him back on Wednesday and on Thursday, he brought over a stack of cash and today, we handed him the keys. It all went so fast. I sort of expected it to take much longer. Now the next big step is (drumroll please) the van!
I have been buying lots of things of Craig's List too, Baby Bjorns, Booster Seats, all kinds of stuff. Hence my addiction.
My only complaint of the week health-wise, is my hips are killing me and I can't sleep. I raved a few weeks back about my egg crate, but I think it's no longer got me as excited as I was. I try to sleep on one side and in about 10 minutes I'm so uncomfortable that I have to switch sides. Then this repeats, and repeats, and repeats. Then I don't get much sleep. Oy vey!

Edited to Add:::
OK. Now I remember what else I wanted to say about the crazy week. Eli had a dentist appt and no cavities! Yay! I hope his teeth hold off as long as mine did (til college). The other big Eli news is that he passed his hearing test!!! The tube worked! We got his earplugs and he was hesitant to use them at first, but now he's excited to be able to dunk his head again and hopefully go to swim class again!
