It was filled with many items that were very useful or touching to me as a mom in the NICU, some of which I still use to this day. As part of the boys' b-day invitations, I requested no gifts for their party. Instead, I'm asked for monetary donations for Project Sweet Peas and the March of Dimes.
Because I'm getting all sappy and emotional about the boys' growth and development, I emailed the project director for New England and mentioned I'd be happy to hold a drive to accumulate items for their gift bags. If you're reading this and you live nearby or know me IRL (In Real Life), here's the list of what they need:
Blankets
Disposable Cameras
Disposable Cameras
Picture Frames
Stuffed Animals
Birth Record Pillows
Baby Brush/Comb sets
Baby Caps
Baby Booties
Baby Mittens
Baby Eye Masks
Children's Books
Hand/Foot Molds
Tissue Packs
Journals / Notebooks
Pens
Puzzle Books
Baby Lotion
Baby Shampoo
Lip Balm
Hand Sanitizer
Gift Cards
(Gas, food, VISA, etc..)
Travel Size Toiletries
(Deodorant, Shampoo, Conditioner, Toothbrush, Toothpaste)
Shaving Kits
Photo Boxes (for Memory Boxes)
Holiday Themed Items
Decorations for Isolettes
(Mobiles, Name Plaques, etc...)
All items must be new (or newly made). If you'd like to pick something up and donate it, please let me know and we can set up a time to meet so I can gather things together. I'd like to get everything together and ship it out to them by October 13th so we have a solid month.
These items may seem inconsequential to those of you who never had this experience, but it means a lot to the moms and dads whose babies are hospitalized.
