We try to go to the zoo every year. This year, we were all excited because my triplet mom group had an outing planned to the zoo. We decided to go with them but then Hurricane Irene came and the outing was cancelled, soooo...we went to the zoo by ourselves this weekend.
One thing that was exciting for me was that the babies were free because they're not 1 yet. I'll milk it as long as I can. We decided to go to York's Wild Animal Kingdom because it's relatively close and it's pretty small. We didn't want to be gone all day.
We got there before they were even open and got a great parking spot. Then we loaded the babies up in the choo choo wagon and headed in for some animal fun.
The first stop was the butterfly house. I'm not sure the babies even cared about the butterflies, but Eli loved the baby alligators. For some reason, he kept asking if we were going to see alligators. I'm not sure where this new obsession came from.
Then we saw some ducks. Eli loved feeding them and the babies were cracking up looking at them. If all they need is ducks for a fun time, we'll just bring them down the road to the river for free and a much shorter drive!
Then we went over to see a million other animals. Once we got to the elephant, Eli was pretty fried and refused to take a picture. Someday, he'll look back and realize he was being a pest.
I forgot to mention the best part of the zoo...the sketchy, but effectively awesome, baby changing station. I loved it so much, I had to take a picture.
It was amazing. A little stall with a changing table with a trash can and a sink nearby. It was perfect for us. They must have put it there just for us. The only problem was the little alley it was located in was really narrow and it was tough to turn around the wagon...maybe next time they'll widen the alley for us...
"Are those triplets?"
The best part was, the tables were sitting right next to each other!!! Why couldn't they eavesdrop like any normal person? And why did they wait until we were trying to leave? One lady was pretty insistant that I answer her questions and she kept getting louder...
Umm...do you see me trying to unbuckle and lift out and pass a child to my husband who is currently holding another child? Do you see me trying to throw everything into my bag, and pick up toast off the floor, and wipe down a baby, and tell a 5 year old to finish his milk, and pay the bill, and try to stuff the last 4 french fries into my mouth? Why is now a good time to ask these questions? We've been here for 45 minutes, you couldn't as then???
Honestly people...
But the zoo was fun. I'm not sure how much the babies appreciated it, but I think Eli did.
