Food for Thought

I recently found out that producing breast milk burns 20 calories per ounce of milk.  I produce 60+ ounces per day.  This means I'm burning 1200+ calories additionally per day.  No wonder why I'm always hungry!!!  As I sit here attached to a machine that attempts to turn me inside out 6x/day I have to remember that this is like the best diet ever!!!
P.S.  I sure hope I can kick my McDonalds addiction once I'm done pumping.

60 ounces...as in a six and then a zero?!?!?! Good for you, mama!!

What pump are you using? Try as I might I can't get more then 8 or 10 ounces a day. I just bought a new pump so I'm hoping it's just that my pump is dying. Any thing else you do in order to get/keep your supply that high? Maybe I'm just not eating enough, lol.

I have a Medela Symphony on rental from the hospital. My insurance paid for it. I eat oatmeal everyday (cookies too). I also eat almonds, take fenugreek 3x/day, lecithin 2x/day (for clogged ducts), drink mothersmilk tea-3 glasses and I just started fennel seed.

I do need to check with my insurance to see if they cover anything. Would you mind emailing me or posting how much you take of each. I'm doing the full dose recommended on KellyMom of fenugreek which is 4 pills 3x a day (620g). I'll have to try the others as well. I was doing oatmeal and the cookies but didn't notice it helping. Maybe I should try it again.

Thanks so much!
