So...we decided to take some 11 week belly shots since the belly is taking over. We hope to update them weekly or so to show our "progress". While we were outside in the yard I saw what terrible shape the yard is in and I spotted my arch nemesis the dreaded Japanese Bamboo (Dave knows the real name of it). I decided I would pull it out because I was sick of waiting for somebody else to take care of it. Being an invalid is really no fun. Well I had a great time pulling it all out and getting tangled in the bushes and crawling all over the place.
Until....I went in the house. I felt a trickle. I ran to the bathroom and started shaking because it was my worst fear...blood. Oy vey. I decided to take it easy on the couch and just lay low. This worked for awhile until I felt a gush. Not good. I immediately called my regular OB Dr. B.'s office. They called back and told me to keep my feet up and if things didn't get better to call for an ultrasound in the morning. Not satisfied with this answer, I called my MFM Dr. M.'s office. They were much more receptive and told me to come in today (Monday, this happened on Sunday) for an u/s. OK. Now just to stay put and try not to panic...sure...we'll see how that goes.
Well we made the trip into Boston for our u/s and we saw everybody kicking and squirming and hearts beating. YAYAYAYAYAY!!! I also got my first outie u/s and am loving that I probably won't have any more innies!!! They checked sizes and heartbeats and everything all around since this was the first u/s at this practice. The tech even said she thought the twins were mono-di. This is even better news. They're not sharing a sac so they're not as high risk as mono-mono twins. Another hurdle down!!! The tech left and said she needed to show things to the dr to be sure that she was right about the mono-di thing. About 10 minutes later 2 more dr.'s came in. I started to panic a bit, but they were just checking the sac situation so I relaxed. They took about 75 pictures in all, but I didn't get to take any home. I still have my regularly scheduled u/s next week so hopefully I'll get some pix to post then.
So all in all, good news. The midwife told me not to do anything out of the ordinary (like yard work) and to stick to my usual routine. Okee dokee. As long as this doesn't happen again. She thinks it may have been a cervical bleed which happens when pg people overexert themselves. Well, we definitely learned a lesson and I'm leaving all the big stuff up to everybody else.
