13 Months Old!!!
Can you believe that our little pumpkins are 13 months old? Who said we have to stop counting at 12???

Sippy Cup Switch-a-roo
One of the more dreaded experiences in a baby's life is the transition to sippy cup. Because I didn't want the boys to be walking in on their first day of Kindergarten with a bottle in their lunch box (don't laugh...it's happened...binkies too, but I'm not ready for that yet), I decided to cut the strings and go cold turkey.
One Friday morning, when they woke up, we gave them sippy cups instead of bottles. By that evening, we were all ready to pull our hair out and we teetered on the edge of giving them a bottle to make it easier for everybody. We had about 35 different kinds of sippy cups to choose from and we just had to figure out who liked which kind.
This is what we've ended up with:

They haven't quite mastered the "tip back" necessary to drink cups while sitting up. When sitting is necessary, we use sippy cups with straws. They work well too. I can't believe we did it, but we have and we haven't gone back to bottles in over a week!!!

Topsfield Fair!!!
Trying to keep everything equal and our lives as "normal" as possible with three 1 year olds, we decided to continue the tradition and loaded up the car and headed off to the Topsfield Fair. It's a giant place filled with farm animals, amusement rides, and food...lots of food...fried food...YUM!!!
So we ran into a few ding-dongs while we were there. One lady, seeing the babies dressed like this:

Proceeded to ask if they were 2 boys and a girl...Hmmm...does that make Ben the girl??? OY!!!
Eli had fun on the rides...except the roller coaster. Check out where Dave sat...

We're Back...
I think we've got a laptop system worked out while we wait patiently for a part on order from Hong Kong (literally) that will be arriving via ship (literally).
To appease you and try to make up for the lapse in posting, I will bombard you with fun pitcures from our trip Apple and Pumpkin picking. We love Parlee farms. We have learned that you must get to Parlee early.
First you hop on a Hay Ride to the apple orchard.
Once we got to the apple orchard, Eli ran around like crazy filling up our bag.
The boys hung around in the wagon taking in the sights.
At one point Sammy even tried to eat an apple right off the tree.
After that, we decided that maybe we should give the babies apples to munch on while we picked. Dave and I quickly tried to "peel" 3 apples with our teeth to give to them.
They loved every minute of their apples. They were so attached that when we took their apples away to get loaded back up into the hay ride, they were upset and we had to give them their apples back.
After we dropped the apples off at the car (ahem, van), it was off to the pumpkin patch. Because I am a nutcase, they babies must be equal to Eli in every way so I have to take pictures of them with the pumpkins just like the first time we took Eli pumpkin picking. The major issue is that it is close to impossible to take a picture of the 4 boys with all of them looking at the camera and not escaping. Eli is even guilty of being a weirdo during pictures...Oh, well. Someday...right? Right??? Please!?!?!?
We got a lot of compliments on their fancy sweaters, Thanks cousin Sam!!! All in all, we had a great day and I'm glad we got to accomplish it and keep the tradition alive.

Meltdown...
...much like the Red Sox, our laptops (yes both of them), had major meltdowns in the month of September. As soon as we get them back up and running properly, we'll be back on track with the blogging...

Big Boy Carseats
Until you've tried to assemble and install 4 carseats in your van, you do not know the meaning of the word FRUSTRATION. There are so many different configurations and rules, it's enough to make your head spin in circles for days. Because Ben & Sam are both over 20 lbs, we knew it was time to be done with the "bucket seats", but I'm not sure if I'm ready for the big step to the "Big Boy Carseats".
There are so many things to consider now. Instead of loading them up inside and then dropping them off outside the van while I load the others in, now I have to load one in at a time and leave the others in the house. When we go places, I won't be able to bring them in their buckets and always have a seat for them to stay contained. Now we're really going to have to use the new Peg Perego stroller. That means if we do errands, unbuckling 3 times, then buckling into the stroller 3 times, while trying to keep Eli from running away and hoping that the stroller doesn't roll away, and remembering lists, coupons, diapers, wallet, phone, keys, etc. OY!!! Not sure how it's going to work, but I guess we have to practice.
Dave took on the daunting job of installing the seats in the van last night. The new rule is that kids should stay RF (rear facing) until they're 2 years old. Because we needed special seats that fit 3 across in the van, we were limited with what brand we could choose. We got the Sunshine Radians. They fit 3 across and are good up to about 300 lbs I think. The issue now is that when you install them RF in the back row, they recline at such an angle that there's no physical way for me to get in the van to buckle them in. Also, if I put one in the 2nd row next to Eli, the seat touches the 1st row passenger seat and that person has to be pulled so far forward that they're litterally eating the dashboard. So many issues.
What we've decided to do temporarily is put Ben & Sam FF (front facing) and Nate RF in the back row. At the end of the month a special adapter "wedge" will be on the market to place under their seats to fix the recline issue. At that point, we will turn them back RF for as long as possible. They're not in the car too much so hopefully we can turn them RF as soon as possible. If anybody has any other suggestions, please let me know. I'm all ears!!!
