Sippy Cup Switch-a-roo

One of the more dreaded experiences in a baby's life is the transition to sippy cup.  Because I didn't want the boys to be walking in on their first day of Kindergarten with a bottle in their lunch box (don't laugh...it's happened...binkies too, but I'm not ready for that yet), I decided to cut the strings and go cold turkey.

One Friday morning, when they woke up, we gave them sippy cups instead of bottles.  By that evening, we were all ready to pull our hair out and we teetered on the edge of giving them a bottle to make it easier for everybody.  We had about 35 different kinds of sippy cups to choose from and we just had to figure out who liked which kind.

This is what we've ended up with:

They haven't quite mastered the "tip back" necessary to drink cups while sitting up.  When sitting is necessary, we use sippy cups with straws.  They work well too.  I can't believe we did it, but we have and we haven't gone back to bottles in over a week!!!

Which sippy is that? We are using Nuby with the handles right now. They mostly just play with them while sitting in their chairs. I haven't tried letting them lay down to drink like a bottle. Great idea.

They are from oxo. I only bought them because they are the right colors. The Nubby ones leaked all over for us because the silicone spout would get pressed (by a hand, foot, toy, etc) and open up. These have hard spouts and can covert later on to "Big kid" sippy cups.

That is so awesome I had no idea it could be done cold turkey. I wanna try it now!

Thanks, I'll have to look them up. I was wrong before, we have Nuby from my daughter and most of the spouts are cracking and the boys just chewed them and wouldn't drink. So we are using Nuk for them, but the valve seems to cause air to get into the milk when then drink. So we only use water. That was on formula so I need to test drink it myself now with whole milk, lol.

Oh and I'm "wonder" I was messing with my profile and had apparently changed my name, lol. Whoops.

I'm working with using sippy cups with our quads now. I had not thought of laying them in their Boppy pillows like we do with bottles to transition. How did you eventually get the boys drinking upright?
