17 weeks down...

YAYAY!!! 17 weeks down! Our next big milestone is 20 weeks, then 24, then 28, and then 32. 32 weeks is typical gestation for triplets, but I'm hoping to keep them cooking as long as possible. I'm shooting for 10-10-10 which would put me at 36+ weeks. I may be nuts but I want healthy "take home" babies (I don't want to jinx myself here so knock on wood or something). I'm also counting down the days until school is out and I can relax and put my feet up more. I've been hiding in the office with the secretary because she has a/c. She doesn't mind, but my principal keeps giving me looks. I've got 3 good excuses here...let it slide for 7 more days!

Completely Overwhelmed

I am so overwhelmed due to the outpouring of love and generosity today. My friends at work threw me a shower. It's a bit early, but they had to squeeze it in before school gets out. It was so cute and nice and...overwhelming. I cry at everything lately, so it was hard for me to keep it together. We got some amazing (and way too generous) gifts.
I'm just not ready for this yet. I don't know when it's going to hit me that I'm having 3 babies and I need to be ready...fast. I don't know if it's because the house is soooooo far from ready. Dave is being pulled in so many different directions and I'm completely useless. I wish I would wake up and have everything be all set.
Sorry for the grumpiness, but I'm just in a weird place. I try to stay positive, but sometimes I have a wave of crankiness and I get scared. Now I'm crying...oy vey!
Neo-natal Nugget (I stole that from a TV show)
***My belly at 16 weeks is measuring the size of a belly of a mom carrying one baby who is 26 weeks. Isn't that nuts? I think I'll be wearing circus tents by September...

Long and Thick...

...not the 2 words I ever thought I'd want to hear when my doctor's got his hand "you know where" but now they're music to my ears. He was checking my cervix when he said this. Basically this means that things are good. When it thins out, it's bad news and I need to go on bedrest or get a stitch put in it. Both options are not ideal. So for now, long and thick is how I want to be.
We didn't get the u/s that we were trying to trick them into, but we did get to hear the heart beats. This was a first because basically anywhere you put the doppler, you'll hear a heart beat & it's tough to distinguish one baby from another.
So far everything's looking good and I'm excited to not have to report anything else! My next appt is the 15th to find out how many "innies & outies" we have, then from there, I'll be going every two weeks. Keep praying and send us those positive vibes!!!

Mr. Smartie Pants

Every year, we travel up north to Nana & Papa's cottage. This year was no different. The ride up made me mildly nauseous, but I stuck with it as this may be the first and last time this season, as I don't think we'll be going up over Labor Day as I'll be HUGE!!!
While we're there, Nana & I were talking about car seat configurations, sleeping arrangements, baby registries, and all that kind of stuff. We kept mentioning the word 3. Eli was sitting next to me, taking it all in. Finally he said...
"Mama, are you having 3 babies?"
Well then, I guess we didn't have to tell him. He figured it all out on his own. He's probably so confused. Every couple of weeks, we tell him there's another baby. Now he'll figure out why I make him kiss my belly 3 times and why we light 3 candles at church. That's at least one bit of stress off our backs. Now we don't have to give people hand signals when we're talking about the babies...the cat's out of the bag!!!

YAY...we're avocados!!!

So excited to mark the 16th week!!! The babies are now the size of avocados. So weird, but Eli will be excited when I show him at the supermarket tomorrow. No new news but I had a bizarre episode yesterday.
This may be TMI for some people so beware!!!
I was just feeling funny all day. Just some weird uncomfortableness in my belly. Being preggers automatically I panic about every little tingle and twitch and tickle so this sent me reeling. It didn't actually hurt at first, it was just weird. I didn't want to call the doctor and say "Hi, I'm feeling weird, could I come in to get checked out?" And it's a trek to get to MGH so I kind of put it off to see how things would go.
On my way to get Eli I got stuck in the worst traffic ever...it took me over an hour to complete a 20 minute drive. The whole time I panicked about what this craziness was in my belly. I tried to relax and tell myself it was just gas...
I finally got home and took some tums just to see what would happen...well it started things rolling...Eli kept telling me to say "excuse me" but I was in no mood for manners at that point. I just wanted that terrible gas bubble out!!! It didn't happen fast. I took more tums and went to bed. I must have let a mega-one go overnight because I feel much better this morning. Good thing I didn't panic and go to the doctor...I would have been just a little embarrassed to say the least.
Sorry for the TMI but inquiring people want to know!!! That's the most exciting thing to happen to me all week...(let's keep it that way!!!)
Happy Memorial Day everybody!

Doctor's appointment next Tuesday for my Glucose test. No u/s scheduled so we're still waiting for June 15th to find out what genders Han Solo and the Twinkies really are...

15 weeks...woo hoo!!!

We're excited to be at 15 weeks and counting!!! No new symptoms to speak of...but I thought I was supposed to have more energy in my 2nd trimester. OK...not so much. I literally fell asleep on the couch last night before Dave had Eli in bed. I'm hoping for the 2nd trimester energy boost I've been hearing so much about.

I am continuing to drink like a camel. I've even managed to find a way to fit even more than a gallon into my day. Now, I'm also supposed to be drinking at night. I'm not quite sure how that's supposed to happen as I do sleep OK at night. Maybe when I start waking up more I'll have time to drink while I'm in bed. I'll keep you posted...
