So, Dave was shocked when I said we should try a new beach. The beach is a BIG deal. We need to know the layout, facilities, tide schedule, parking situation, length of walk, height of waves, etc. But we did it. I've always heard people say Wallis Sands in Rye, NH is beautiful and perfect for kids. I was having a bit of beach envy since we hadn't been in a WHOLE WEEK!
We did as much online research as we could and figured out as many variables as we could and we hit the road. Admittedly we slacked off a bit the night before and left way too much to do in the morning, but we still manged to get out of the house by 8.
We had a minor navigational issue due the age of our GPS, but we found it. Not only did we find it, but we were petrified it would be full and it wasn't! Score 1 for us!
We also brought a new tent that we spotted while on the Cape. The walk from the car wasn't bad. The facilities were adequate. The waves were a blast. And everybody loved our kids. All the other beachgoers commented on how much fun they were to watch...umm...do you want to babysit???
We also tried out these chairs that I had bought for the babies (Eli has one at home). They had no problem getting in/out/sitting. But at times, they tipped over! At one point, there was a serious domino issue when all 3 chairs went down!
Once we lost the beach due to high tide, we showered (yes, they have showers) and packed up. We decided to try another first...the New Balance Outlet!
It was their big sale time so we were looking to get some good deals on sneakers! We managed to find it despite another navigational issue...They were also still open (which we were worried about). The one issue was the stairs. We needed to keep the babies in the stroller. Nothing good happens when they are released in store! We found a special elevator and the nice security guard let us ride it. It was one of the special ones that stores put in when they retrofit for handicap access. We had to make 2 trips...I went up with the single stroller and Eli the 1st round and Dave went up with the double stroller on the second round. While we were shopping, all Eli could talk about was the special elevator! We were pleased with our purchases as well. We got 5 pair of shoes (2 for Eli & 3 for the babies) and a shirt for Dave for $105. Not too bad!!!
To top it all off, we still needed to eat supper. We figured on our day of first, we should try a new restaurant too. We're crazy I know! A new Joe's Crab Shack opened up that just happened to be on our route home. Dave and I had been to one in Michigan, but never this one or with kids!
When we got there, I ran in to see if they could fit us and if they had 3 high chairs. They quickly moved some tables around and got things set up. Dinner was yummy! Dave even dug into a bucket of steamed deliciousness!!!
His bib says "Crab Daddy" HA!
Sam was fascinated by the line dance done by the staff.
He kept pointing and clapping!
Then the best part for the kids, was the attached playground. While Dave was cleaning up and paying the bill, we made our way outside.
Sam and Nate were creating a barricade preventing other kids from going up the stairs.
Triple Trouble Mafia in full effect!
All in all it was an awesome day! We'll definitely go back to each of these new places...Not all at once though!
